The Black Vitamin: A Men's Health & Wellness Summit

  • North Houston Early College High School 8001 Fulton Street Building C Houston, TX 77022 (map)

The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston (100BMOH) will host its next mentoring session on Saturday, March 23rd from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston is proud to announce The Black Vitamin: A Men's Health & Wellness Summit, taking place on March 23, 2019.

Attendees will rotate through separate sessions and there will be separate tracks, one for middle school-age boys, high school-age boys, and one for adult men.

There will also be sessions for women participants too at the same time as those for the men!

Both breakfast and lunch will be provided for summit attendees.

The lunch keynote speaker, open to all attendees, will be John Hoberman a professor at the University of Texas at Austin and author of Black & Blue: The Origins and Consequences of Medical Racism. Black & Blue is the first systematic description of how American doctors think about racial differences and how this kind of thinking affects the treatment of their black patients. The standard studies of medical racism examine past medical abuses of black people and do not address the racially motivated thinking and behaviors of physicians practicing medicine today.

Professor Hoberman will sign purchased copies of his book after the program, with a portion of book proceeds going to support our mentoring and community programs.

Attire for our mentees (and prospective mentees) is the 100BMOH mentee t-shirt or a dark-colored shirt (tucked in) and brown khaki pants or blue jeans (no shorts) with a belt.

See you on Saturday!
